The work “Kunstfehler” is a photographic installation based on the work “I am here to open you”. Abstract photographs can be seen on both sides of long gauze bandages hanging from the ceiling. Parts of the bandages and photographs are repeatedly sewn together. In this work, different materials are joined together in a rough manner. The photographs are ironed onto the gauze bandages using transfer foil and additionally sewn in some places. The artist adapts to the properties of the material and finds ways to work on it, while at the same time forcing it into the desired shape. Symbolically, the bandage bears photographs depicting abstracted moments and objects related to the personal consequences of medical errors. Just as a bandage absorbs blood after an operation, the gauze bandage absorbs and carries the photographs of the effects of this malpractice.
